DEI practice is full of widely-held assumptions — about what works, what the research shows,
and how confident we should be in popular interventions. This quiz challenges those assumptions.
15 questions covering key topics in DEI evidence: bias training, the IAT, sponsorship, contact theory, algorithmic bias, and more.
Each answer includes a 2–3 sentence explanation drawing on peer-reviewed research.
Designed for DEI practitioners, HR professionals, and anyone who wants to engage critically with the evidence base.
Mix of true/false and multiple choice questions.
A note on nuance: In many cases the "correct" answer is the most evidence-based one available,
but the research landscape is often contested or evolving. The explanations aim to reflect that complexity
rather than offer false certainty.

The evidence is nuanced — and that's the point.
Effective DEI practice requires the same critical evaluation we would apply to any organisational
intervention. Popular programmes are not always well-evidenced, and well-evidenced approaches are
not always popular. Interrogating the research — including its limitations, context-dependence,
and replication record — is not a threat to DEI work. It is how we do it better.
